times square girls
slip around like high as can be,
carve their way and are drowned
in surveillance and pavement and biomass
things are looking up
for the wild eyes on the corners
holding the camera;
they shape themselves to the moment
but don’t seem to see the wide wide gameshow freefall
happening inside
the hotel blames the hard soil
and the faithful blame the loyal
and the planet blames the oil
panic has left the building
the gene pool
tall and crazy and cool
hitting the bars and entering
