Eyes on Me

Born without the independence of choice,
Only seen by the eyes full of expectations,
The figurehead knows just to ask for results,
No room for creativity and flow of thought.

Some tasks fail and blame begins to pile up,
All eyes point towards the one most capable,
Answers to questions and solutions to problems,
The qualified leader bears a heavy burden.

Responsibilities rise as new members are born,
Papers flow out of pockets and into awaiting letters,
Small eyes wide open, yearning for material objects,
Counting the days upon which the end finally comes.

No responsibilities, no expectations, no burdens,
Crinkled skin, weak demeanor, unconscious mind,
Lowered down slowly and carefully onto the dirt,
Able to rest, one last time, all eyes on me.
